Colorectal Cancer: Early Detection Saves Lives

COLOTECT – A Non-Invasive DNA Test for Early Detection of Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon and rectum) is one of the most common malignant diseases worldwide. According to data from the World Health Organization (WHO), approximately 1.8 million new cases and nearly 861,000 deaths related to this disease were recorded in 2018. Although incidence and mortality rates vary across countries, colorectal cancer remains a major global health challenge.

What is particularly important is that colorectal cancer is one of the few cancers that can be prevented if detected early. In up to 90% of cases, when the disease is diagnosed at an early stage, it is successfully treatable. This is why screening plays a crucial role.

Screening Methods for Colorectal Cancer

Colonoscopy

  • Requires prior preparation
  • Performed in clinical settings
  • Sedatives are often used
  • Involves insertion of a flexible tube with a camera through the rectum into the colon
  • Allows direct visual examination of the tissue
  • Uncomfortable for many patients and therefore often postponed

FOBT – Fecal Occult Blood Test

  • No preparation required
  • Performed at home
  • Dietary restrictions may apply
  • Detects the presence of hemoglobin in stool
  • Limited sensitivity, especially for adenomas in early and advanced stages

Stool DNA Test – A Modern Approach

  • No preparation required
  • Self-collection of the sample at home
  • No dietary restrictions
  • Detects specific genetic biomarkers
  • Completely non-invasive method

What Is the COLOTECT Test?

COLOTECT is a modern, non-invasive, and highly sensitive DNA-based screening test for the early detection of colorectal cancer (CRC) and precancerous lesions. The test is based on DNA analysis from a stool sample, using multiplex methylation and PCR technology.

COLOTECT detects abnormal methylation of the following CRC genetic markers:

  • SDC2
  • ADHFE1
  • PPP2R5C

These biomarkers are consistently present in stool and enable early and accurate detection, even before symptoms appear.

Why Choose COLOTECT?

  • Convenient – self-collection of the sample at home, with no preparation required
  • Simple – only one sample is needed
  • Effective – Sensitivity for colorectal cancer: 87% Sensitivity for advanced adenomas: 42.1%
  • Sensitivity for colorectal cancer: 87%
  • Sensitivity for advanced adenomas: 42.1%
  • Accurate – high specificity of 93%
  • Complete solution – the kit contains everything needed for sample collection and processing
  • High quality – manufactured according to strict standards; ISO 13485-certified manufacturer

What Does the COLOTECT Kit Contain?

The COLOTECT kit consists of four components:

  • A single-use stool collection kit
  • A DNA isolation kit for stool samples
  • A DNA bisulfite conversion kit
  • A DNA methylation detection kit for SDC2, ADHFE1, and PPP2R5C genes (Real-Time PCR)

COLOTECT Screening – In 4 Simple Steps

1. The patient receives the sample collection kit
2. The sample is collected at home and sent directly to the laboratory
3. The analysis is performed under laboratory conditions
4. Results are delivered to the patient or their primary care physician

Early Detection Makes a Difference

With COLOTECT, colorectal cancer screening becomes simple, accessible, and non-invasive-eliminating excuses for postponement.
